Cowboy boots for The Hondo Rodeo Fest in Phoenix

What to Wear to The Hondo Rodeo Fest 2026 in Phoenix

The Hondo Rodeo Fest is back at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix, November 13–15, 2026, for its third year. It is one of the biggest western weekends in Arizona, with a free street festival, an invite-only Million Dollar Rodeo and a headline country concert every night. If you are planning your outfit, this guide covers what to wear from the first beer on the street to the last song of the night.

Hondo Rodeo Fest 2026 at a glance

  • When: Friday–Sunday, November 13–15, 2026
  • Where: Chase Field, downtown Phoenix
  • Hondo Street Fest: free, roughly noon to 1 AM, with food, shopping and live music outside the ballpark
  • Million Dollar Rodeo: about 6–8 PM each night, an all-star field competing for a $1 million purse
  • Concerts: Friday Tim McGraw with Miranda Lambert, Saturday Blake Shelton with Turnpike Troubadours, Sunday Parker McCollum with Lynyrd Skynyrd (as announced; check the official Hondo site for final times)

That makes Hondo a long day. You will be walking the street fest in the afternoon, sitting in the stands for the rodeo and standing on the floor for the concert. Plan an outfit that looks sharp at 2 PM and still feels good at midnight.

Start with the boots

Boots are the one piece everyone notices at a rodeo, and at Hondo you will be on your feet for hours on concrete. Pick a pair you have already broken in, or buy early enough to wear them around the house first.

  • Women: a snip toe or square toe cowgirl boot with a stacked heel is the classic Hondo look. Embroidered and colored boots (red, turquoise, cream) photograph beautifully under stadium lights. Browse our women's cowboy boots and best-selling cowgirl boots.
  • Men: a broad square toe in brown leather goes with everything. If you want to stand out, an ostrich or python boot is the move for a night like this. See our men's cowboy boots.

The hat

A cowboy hat pulls the whole outfit together. In November, felt is the right call for evening events. Straw is a summer hat, and by the time the rodeo starts the sun is down.

  • A black or chocolate felt hat works with almost any outfit.
  • Silverbelly and sand felts look great with denim and cream tones.
  • Have it shaped to your head before the event so it stays put in the crowd. We do this free at our Hat Bar in both stores. Start with our felt cowboy hats.

Want something no one else will be wearing? Build a one-of-one hat with a custom band, feathers or turquoise at our custom Hat Bar.

Outfit ideas for women

  • Classic: bootcut or flare jeans, a fitted western shirt or graphic tee, concho belt, cowgirl boots and a felt hat.
  • Dressed up: a western maxi or midi dress with tall embroidered boots and a fringe or suede jacket.
  • Statement: a fox fur or shearling western jacket over a simple black outfit. November nights in Phoenix can drop into the 50s, so a real jacket earns its place. See our fur jackets and vests.

Finish with a crossbody bag. Stadiums often limit bag sizes, so check Chase Field's bag policy before you go and keep it small. Shop all women's western wear.

Outfit ideas for men

  • Classic: dark bootcut jeans, a pearl snap western shirt, a leather belt with a buckle, square toe boots and a felt hat.
  • Cool-night layer: add a leather or suede western vest or a lightweight leather blazer.
  • Standout: exotic boots, a trophy-style buckle and a premium Stetson or Resistol felt.

Shop men's western wear and belt buckles.

Practical tips for Hondo weekend

  • Layer up. Afternoons in mid-November are usually warm, and evenings cool off fast.
  • Break in your boots at least a week before, especially if you are going all three days.
  • Protect your hat. Hold it by the brim, not the crown pinch, and never leave a felt hat in a hot car.
  • Check the bag policy and ticket details on the official Hondo Rodeo Fest website before you go.
